High-quality organic compost transformed from plant waste, ready to enhance gardens in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

The Gold by Marina hotel, part of Grupo Satocan, has transformed over eight tons of organic waste into high-quality compost, intended for the improvement of green spaces in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

This initiative, which took place between September 2025 and April 2026, is part of the Compost T+ Canarias Circular Project. During this period, the hotel establishment contributed 8,195 kilos of organic waste, mainly of plant origin, which were processed at the composting plant in Agüimes. The result is T+ compost, a high-quality organic fertilizer now used in the municipality.
The action aligns with Grupo Satocan's sustainability strategy, its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Program, and the objectives of its Biosphere certification. The company emphasizes that such projects contribute to a more responsible tourism model, focused on the circular economy and the regeneration of natural resources.
The company stresses that this participation is not an isolated event but a continuation of an effort initiated years ago to integrate sustainability into the daily management of its tourist complexes, involving the entire value chain.

"It's not just about minimizing our impact, but about returning to the earth part of what it gives us, closing the biological cycle of our waste."

Renaud Gregoire · Director of the Gold by Marina hotel
Renaud Gregoire, the hotel's director, described the experience as "extremely enriching" and a clear example of regenerative tourism. He highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration to advance towards a tourism model that cares for the territory and strengthens the sector's environmental commitment, generating direct benefits for the island.
The hotel's commitment to sustainability, consolidated under the Biosphere certification, has also proven to improve business efficiency and team motivation, according to Grupo Satocan.
