The Local Police of Mogán has presented its renewed vehicle fleet, which includes a car, two motorcycles, and a specialized van for the K-9 canine unit, now joined by Xena, a six-month-old Belgian Malinois puppy.

The K-9 canine unit of the Mogán Local Police has been reinforced with the addition of Xena, a six-month-old Belgian Malinois puppy. The dog will form a tandem with Ares, another four-year-old dog of the same breed who has been serving with the force since early last year. The presentation took place at Plaza Pérez Galdós in Arguineguín.
The renewal of the vehicle fleet represents an investment of 105,000 euros from own funds. Among the new acquisitions is a specialized van for the canine unit, a Ford valued at 14,000 euros which, after adaptation for animal transport according to the Animal Welfare Law, reached a cost of nearly 25,000 euros. This vehicle features independent climate control, two dog compartments, a refrigerator for food, a 40-liter water tank, and solar panels.
Officer David Suárez, Xena's trainer, explained that the puppy is currently in training and will specialize in detecting narcotic substances, using play to stimulate her hunting instinct. The fleet has also been expanded with two Honda 750 cc motorcycles (19,000 euros each), the first in 19 years, and a hybrid all-terrain Dacia Duster car (over 40,000 euros) for patrol duties.
With these additions, the Mogán Local Police now has 15 cars, 3 scooters, and 6 motorcycles. Mayor Onalia Bueno also announced plans to acquire three more scooters and two more cars this year.
