The Lopesan group, through Ifa Hotel Faro de Maspalomas SAU, has requested authorization from the Canary Islands Government's Coastal Authority to occupy land in the public maritime-terrestrial domain next to the Faro de Maspalomas, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, to install and operate 70 sunbeds, following soil preparation.

The company has submitted a project to the Directorate General of Coasts and Management of the Canary Maritime Space, intending to intervene in an approximately 700-square-meter esplanade located on the east side of the vertical dike in front of the lighthouse. The intervention will cover a coastline of about 30 meters in length and an approximate width of 27 meters.
The main actions include general conditioning and cleaning of the area, removal of the existing breakwater to relocate it and homogenize the space, and minor earthmoving to create a slope of 2% to 4% for comfortable sunbed placement. The existing access ramp to the sea will also be conditioned.
The applicant entity recalls that the Hotel Faro de Maspalomas previously created an esplanade in this area in the 1970s, which housed a sunbed operation under a concession that has since expired and was ordered to be demolished by court ruling in February 2008.
In parallel, Lopesan submitted another project in February 2023, currently under processing, for the conditioning of a public rest area by the sea with wooden platforms. Additionally, authorization has been requested for the construction of a kiosk and public restrooms to serve this area.
