The Department of Tourism, Festivities and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has initiated a public consultation to select the theme for the Maspalomas International Carnival 2027. From April 10 until midnight on April 26, both residents and tourists have the opportunity to decide the central theme of this internationally renowned celebration.
Three distinct options have been proposed, each offering a unique creative and scenic universe. The alternatives are: Marine Worlds, which invites exploration of the ocean's richness; A World of Toys, evoking childhood fantasy and imagination; and The Digital Age, a modern proposal focused on technology and screens.
“"We are launching a participatory process that allows citizens to decide from the very beginning how they want their carnival to be. It is a way to involve those who live here and those who choose us as a destination, in the construction of one of our main events."
Yilenia Vega, Councillor for Tourism, Festivities and Events, highlighted the importance of this initiative in engaging the community and visitors in the event's planning. She emphasized that the Maspalomas International Carnival is a fundamental tool for tourism promotion, and opening the vote to those who visit the island generates interest from the initial stages, positioning the event in key source markets.
Voting is conducted digitally, allowing participants to choose one of the three proposed themes. The option that receives the most votes will be selected to theme the carnival, thus marking the beginning of the planning for one of the municipality's most prominent festivities.
