The proposal currently under debate in the municipal plenary session seeks to ensure legal stability for over 200 individuals and entities. These affected parties, including owners of berths, commercial premises, homes, and the Livvo Puerto de Mogán hotel, hold rights granted by the current operator, Puerto de Mogán SA.
The local government intends to formalize collaboration agreements with each beneficiary. This measure addresses the uncertainty among holders, who acquired their rights under the assumption that they would remain valid for the duration of the original administrative concession, granted in 1981.
To formalize the request to Puertos Canarios, the council must deposit a provisional bond of 183,437 euros, representing 2% of the projected works budget. Furthermore, the plan includes an investment commitment of 13.3 million euros in port facilities.
The situation is complicated by a dispute over the legitimacy to request the extension. While the City Council maintains it reserved this right in 1987, the private company has also submitted its own application, a conflict currently being resolved in the courts.
