The GC-654 road, connecting Rosiana and Tunte in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, has reopened to traffic after emergency works by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, affected by Storm Therese, were completed.

The Ministry of Public Works of the Cabildo has concluded the emergency actions on the GC-654 road, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, connecting the villages of Rosiana and Tunte via Lomo Taidía, Risco Blanco, and El Sequero. The road was reopened to traffic on August 7.
The works, which involved an investment of 700,000 euros, have restored the road's structural stability, reconstructed the platform, and replaced safety and signage systems. Interventions focused on kilometer points 5+850 and 6+920, in addition to replacing mesh and dynamic barrier cables at points 2+080 and 2+250.
Although work began in April, only a small area remains where slopes are being profiled and cavities filled, tasks expected to conclude in the first half of September. With most of the work completed, the road regains full operational capacity, ensuring traffic safety and restoring direct connection to Tunte.
Storm Therese, which hit Gran Canaria between March 19 and 26, particularly affected roads in the south, center, and highlands of the island. It led to the temporary closure of up to 25 roads in a single day, and up to 22 roads on the island network suffered significant damage, including washouts, collapses, or sinkholes.
