The Housing Department of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has concluded the public exhibition period for the new regulations without receiving objections, thus establishing a regulatory framework for an upcoming call for support. This initiative seeks to alleviate the economic burden of rent given the rising costs in the market.
Among the main improvements, the maximum limit for subsidized rent increases to 1,000 euros per month, with the possibility of reaching 1,100 euros for large families. Previously, this cap was set at 850 euros. For room rentals, the limit rises to 600 euros, up from the previous 550 euros. Additionally, the income threshold has been expanded to 4.5 times the IPREM, and the minimum income requirement has been eliminated, allowing more households to access these aids. The regulation also strengthens the criterion of local roots, requiring a minimum of five years of registration in the municipal census.
“"These aids address one of the main concerns of families: access to housing. The ordinance puts resources directly into the hands of those who need them most."
The support system maintains a direct subsidy model, covering up to 30% of the rent, a percentage that can reach 40% for large families, with an annual maximum of 3,000 euros per beneficiary. The evaluation criteria prioritize social, economic, and residency aspects, ensuring an objective selection of applications under a competitive process.
“"The review of the bases adapts the aids to the current market situation and improves the clarity and fairness of the system."
With the approval of this ordinance, the City Council is already working on preparing the next call for applications, defining the budget, deadlines, and eligible period, at which point the application submission period will open.
