The City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has introduced the Folclore en tu Barrio project, an initiative offering free workshops on traditional music, dance, and crafts across the municipality.

The Department of Citizen Participation has begun coordinating with local neighborhood associations in San Bartolomé de Tirajana to implement this cultural program. The main goal is to decentralize training opportunities and bring intangible heritage closer to citizens within their own neighborhoods.
The program, developed in collaboration with the Federation of Folklore Groups of the Canary Islands 8 Islands, includes a wide range of activities. These include traditional instrument classes, singing, dancing, workshops on traditional clothing, palm weaving, and traditional games, all designed for people of all ages.

"Neighborhood associations are a fundamental piece for this project to reach every corner of the municipality. Their involvement will allow us to develop an initiative that is close, accessible, and open to all citizens."

The initiative will be rolled out in key locations such as San Fernando de Maspalomas, El Tablero, Castillo del Romeral, Juan Grande, Aldea Blanca, Fataga, and Tunte. The training cycle will conclude with a collective cultural exhibition where participants will showcase the skills acquired during the workshops.
