The south of Gran Canaria is preparing to host Socarrat Fest on August 16th, a new gastronomic event that will fuse rice, fire, music, and afternoon festivities in Maspalomas.

Maspalomas will become the epicenter of Socarrat Fest on August 16th, a new event aiming to establish itself as a benchmark gastronomic gathering in the south of Gran Canaria. The event, held in an outdoor space from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM, is designed to offer a complete experience centered around rice, fire, and music, expecting an attendance of 2,500 to 4,000 people.
Rice is the undisputed star of Socarrat Fest, serving as the common thread for a day that combines gastronomy, leisure, and experiences. The festival will feature the participation of various island restaurants, each with its own stand to present their culinary creations. Some of these establishments will offer showcookings, sharing the techniques and identities behind their dishes.
The program is complemented by gastronomic workshops where attendees can learn to prepare rice from scratch, along with other activities designed for enjoyment throughout the day. A gastronomic jury will evaluate the restaurants' offerings, awarding a prize for the best rice dish of the festival, adding a component of recognition and quality to the event. Live music, with performances by several groups, will enhance the festive and social spirit of the gathering.
Tickets for Socarrat Fest are now available online starting from 10 euros. General admission includes a drink, while the gastronomic experience option, for 15 euros, adds a rice dish. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Socarrat Fest aims to become an annual event with its own identity in the south of Gran Canaria, promoting rice as a unifying element around the table. The choice of Maspalomas is due to its tourist and social appeal, ideal for a daytime event with continued leisure. The exact location will be announced soon.
