The Lanzarote Health Services Management has been compelled to suspend the bidding process initiated in late May for the expansion of the Tinajo medical center. The decision stems from the detection of a significant error in the budgetary section, as officially reported.
Corrections will be necessary to re-tender the initiative. Initially, the project was allocated a budget of 593,400 euros, including taxes. While the technical aspects of the proposal will remain unchanged, the timeline will be affected, making it unfeasible for the works to be completed between the end of this year and the beginning of the next.
The expansion, which was intended to be completed within a maximum of five months, is necessitated by the fact that the current size of the facility has become insufficient for actual needs, despite being a recently opened center. The clinic began operations less than six years ago, following an investment of approximately 700,000 euros in the late previous decade.
Currently, the center includes areas for admission, administration, medical records storage, sample collection, pediatrics, waiting, and restrooms; nursing and multipurpose consultation rooms; treatment and waiting rooms; restrooms; an emergency area; staff changing rooms, storage, and technical rooms. Actions for special 24-hour coverage are not being considered.
