The Tinajo YouTrail is gearing up for its tenth edition, solidifying its position as a benchmark for trail running in the Canary Islands. The event, scheduled for this weekend, anticipates the participation of approximately 600 runners who will explore the spectacular volcanic landscapes of the municipality of Tinajo, in Lanzarote.
With registrations now closed, the organization has confirmed the attendance of nearly 600 participants. Runners will tackle routes combining lava, volcanoes, and sea views, traversing some of the island's most unique scenery. The race is notable for its ability to attract runners from outside Lanzarote, with significant representation from other Canary Islands, mainland Spain, and abroad, although the majority of registered participants are local.
The event's presentation was attended by officials including Jesús Machín, mayor of the Tinajo City Council; Juan Monzón, counselor for Physical Activity and Sports of the Lanzarote Island Council; Héctor Fernández, CEO of Turismo Lanzarote; and Vianney Rodríguez, sports councilor of the Tinajo City Council.
After a decade of activity, the Tinajo YouTrail has established itself as a prominent race, recognized for the spectacular nature of its routes and the quality of its organization, which prioritizes participant care. Runners themselves have praised the experience, the treatment received, and the attention to detail.
Jesús Machín, mayor of Tinajo, highlighted the event's value as a showcase for the municipality, allowing it to present its landscapes and people to visitors from around the world. Meanwhile, Vianney Rodríguez, sports councilor, emphasized the philosophy of maintaining quality over increasing participant numbers, aiming to provide a great experience for all ages and categories.
The tenth Tinajo YouTrail will officially commence on Friday, September 4th, at the Plaza de Los Dolores. The opening day will include bib and chip collection between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Sporting activities will kick off at 5:00 PM with the Senderismo Los Dolores (Los Dolores Hiking), followed by the Carrera Chinijos (Kids' Race) at 6:00 PM, designed for the youngest participants.
Saturday will be the main day for the trail running categories. The 33-kilometer race will start at 8:30 AM, followed by the 14-kilometer race at 10:30 AM, and the 8-kilometer race at 11:00 AM. All distances will share the route through the volcanic territory of Tinajo.
The finish line for all three distances is scheduled for 1:45 PM, followed by the awards ceremony for the top three finishers in each general male and female category at 2:00 PM. The event will officially conclude at 3:00 PM.
