The initiative, organized by the Department of Commerce and Tourism, invites local restaurateurs to participate. A new addition is the professional competition “Mejor Arroz de Candelaria” (Best Rice of Candelaria), scheduled for October 28th at the Plaza de Los Pescadores.
The mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, encouraged participation, highlighting the main objectives: to promote gastronomic culture, local products, and culinary talent through a professional jury's vote. These actions are part of the “Candelaria, sabor y tradición” (Candelaria, flavor and tradition) project, alongside the “Club del Producto Local de Candelaria” (Local Product Club of Candelaria) seal, established in 2021 to strengthen local, agricultural, and commercial development.
Restaurateurs interested in joining these events can submit their applications until September 11th via the City Council's Electronic Headquarters. María del Carmen Clemente, Councilor for Commerce and Tourism, stated that eligible participants are business owners and self-employed individuals in the restaurant sector with establishments open to the public in Candelaria.
“"The top three finishers in the rice competition will receive a plaque, a diploma, and financial aid for establishment investment: €1,600 for first prize, €1,000 for second, and €600 for third."
