The municipal government of Yaiza, led by Unidos por Yaiza (UPY), greenlit the annual accounts for 2026, estimated at 33.7 million euros. The plenary session also approved the incorporation of 22.9 million euros from treasury reserves, which will be allocated to various investment projects.
The mayor, head of the Economy and Finance Department, highlighted the "economic health of the Administration" and the budgetary increase in areas such as social programs, culture, and sports. The Sports Schools will see a notable increase, as will inclusive parks, the primary sector, and the environment. This year's budget rises by 2.6 million euros compared to 2025, an increase of 8.3%.
In addition to investments in works, infrastructure, and facilities, such as roads, accessibility, and sports parks, the Yaiza City Council, which balanced its accounts in 2018 and eliminated a historical debt of 33 million euros, reaffirms its "commitment to social welfare and its investment strength" with these accounts and reserves.
Within the budget breakdown, charitable and welfare provisions increase from 170,000 to 200,000 euros. 30,000 euros will be allocated to the Fundación Adsis for the Co-responsibility Plan, aimed at children aged 6 to 12 in vulnerable situations, to promote family and work-life balance and support their development.
The Asociación Creciendo will receive 25,000 euros for the care of children with special educational needs. Likewise, 8,000 euros are allocated to the Asociación de Mayores Volcán de Timanfaya and another 8,000 euros to the Asociación Ático de la Abuela for the 'Yaiza Solidaria' project, in addition to the municipal program for the elderly.
In culture and education, the transport subsidy for university students studying outside Lanzarote is increased by 50,000 euros, rising from 900 to 1,200 euros. A new subsidy of 5,000 euros is created for the Canarian University Foundation of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
In Culture, projects such as 'Naturaleza Sonora' and the 'Festival de Danza Traslación' are extended, each receiving an allocation of 30,000 euros.
Regarding investments, priority is given to the completion of the Playa Blanca Sports Pavilion and the construction of the new Playa Blanca Library. The City Council is currently carrying out works worth over 10 million euros in Uga and Playa Blanca, and plans to acquire properties of community interest.
The budget also includes 2.8 million for waste collection services, one million euros for the cleaning and maintenance of the municipality's garden areas, and 650,000 euros for the cleaning of educational centers. The mayor described the budget as "balanced" and "responds to citizens' needs".
