September in Yaiza will be marked by intense cultural activity, ranging from performing arts to proposals aimed at children and families. The program, detailed in the municipal Agenda, includes training workshops, shows, and musical galas.
On September 22nd, a new training cycle for theatrical creation and performance begins at the cultural center in Uga, led by actor and director Siscu Ruz. This initiative, successful in previous editions, will culminate in the premiere of a play featuring participants of various ages. The company Somos Teatro will present the play ‘La Boda’ (The Wedding) on September 26th in Yaiza. This socially-themed piece narrates how Alzheimer's slowly destroys memory and cognitive abilities. A discussion with geriatrician Elisa Corujo will follow the performance.
Music will also take center stage. On September 4th, the Yaiza Vocal Group will perform the gala ‘Songs That Were Poems’ at the Casa de la Cultura, accompanied by Vientar Trío. On September 11th, the duo Bravo, featuring singer Araceli Bravo and pianist Fran Mauri, will present the intimate concert ‘Alma en Concierto’ (Soul in Concert) at the same venue.
The ‘Cuento Contigo’ (Storytelling With You) project, promoted by the association La Mar de Bien Lanzarote and the Yaiza City Council, will offer storytelling sessions and activities for babies, children, and adults until November 13th. Interested families can register via WhatsApp at 680985889.
The program also includes the screening of the documentary ‘Valientes’ (Brave) on September 7th, produced by the Fundación Canaria Pequeño Valiente. The work narrates the experience of ten Canarian mothers and fathers whose children are affected by childhood cancer, aiming to transform pain into hope. This activity is supported by the Adsis foundation.
On September 9th, dietitian-nutritionist Leticia González Camacho will give a talk titled ‘Eating Well to Live Better: Nutrition with Memory, Health, and Consciousness,’ focusing on reconnecting with our food roots for active, fulfilling, and autonomous aging.
Furthermore, oncologist Pedro Lara Jiménez, director of the Canarian Institute for Cancer Research Foundation, will give a lecture on September 18th at the Casa del Camello in Uga about colon cancer and the importance of utilizing the public health early detection program. The councilor for Culture, César Rijo, encourages public participation.
