The Avenida de Femés in Playa Blanca is now open to vehicular traffic in both directions. The road, connecting to Femés, has undergone road surface reinforcement, carriageway widening, asphalt paving, and the construction of a median and a bike lane. The municipal investment amounted to 1.3 million euros.
According to Mayor Óscar Noda, the contracting company must proceed with the second phase of the project, which includes the installation of public lighting on the newly built median and the opening of the bike lane. All these actions are included within the same budget.
“"For the City Council, it was important to develop the project for two basic reasons: to improve road safety on a stretch deteriorated by the immense amount of traffic it supports, as all cars entering and leaving Playa Blanca via the Femés road travel there, and to offer a much more welcoming image of our tourist hub, at one of its two entrances."
In parallel, the same contractor, Hermanos Tavío Santana, is advancing with the comprehensive rehabilitation of Avenida Papagayo, the main artery of Playa Blanca, with an additional investment of 2.6 million euros.
The mayor and the Councilor for Public Works also visited the works on Avenida Papagayo, verifying the replacement of sidewalks and the elimination of architectural barriers. Óscar Noda urged the company for speed to complete the finishing touches and asphalt paving. Regarding the first phase already executed, he highlighted the satisfaction of residents and businesses with the provision of 65 new free parking spaces.
The Yaiza City Council apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the various ongoing works in Playa Blanca.
