A total of 35 young women, out of 47 initially registered, will compete for the title of Queen of the May Festivities of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2026 in a gala to be held on Friday, April 24, in the Plaza de la Candelaria.

The artistic direction of the event will be led by Paula Álvarez, while the preparation of the contestants will be handled by choreographer Fran Romero, who celebrates his eleventh consecutive year in this role. Romero had previously participated alongside Juan Carlos Armas and returned with Ángel Ramos.
Illustrator Nareme Melián designed the stage, drawing inspiration from elements of traditional Canarian attire. The participants were selected through a draw held on Monday, April 13.
Among the designers preparing the candidates' costumes are prominent names such as Damián Rguez Noda, Texenery Moreno Pérez, and Alexis González, who have worked on various representations of traditional island clothing, from the woman of Tenerife in Sunday attire to the woman of La Palma or Gran Canaria as depicted by Alfred Diston.
