Canarian rider Àlex Márquez, following his victory in the Catalan Grand Prix sprint race, has expressed his ambition to win the MotoGP title, the only category he has yet to conquer.

Motorcycle racing rider Àlex Márquez, known for his determination and for being the younger brother of Marc Márquez, has made it clear that he does not give up on his aspirations to become a MotoGP champion. After his recent victory in the sprint race of the Catalan Grand Prix in Montmeló, the rider from Cervera (Lleida) appears hopeful and focused on the title fight.
Márquez, who already holds two world titles in lower categories and is the only rider to have beaten Aprilia this year, considers himself a 'diesel' rider, capable of improving as the season progresses. "We must never lose the enthusiasm, hope, and desire to win this great title," stated the rider, emphasizing the importance of "always being in the battle" and reaching the mid-season with realistic chances.
The Ducati rider demonstrated his potential in Montmeló, dominating the short race from start to finish, despite late pressure from Pedro Acosta. "I knew that if I did the perfect lap, I would be the winner. It was just a matter of repeating a perfect lap one more time. I closed several doors and I won," explained Márquez, who admitted to pushing the front tire too hard, which might affect Sunday's main race.
Despite the challenges and competition, Àlex Márquez remains optimistic and focused on the upcoming races, which he considers "very important." "We need to reach the middle of the championship with possibilities to fight," he insisted. The rider, currently 62 points behind leader Marco Bezzecchi, is confident that his team will find the necessary improvements to tackle the next events with greater fluidity and joy, similar to what he showed in Jerez.
With an eye on his final year with Ducati before a potential move to KTM, Márquez aims to conquer the only title missing from his career. "The next four or five races (Mugello, Hungary, Brno, Assen, Sachsenring…) will be fundamental," he noted, recalling that both he and his brother Marc are usually fast at European circuits. The rider hopes that both he and his rivals remain healthy to compete on the track in the best possible way.
