The Tenerife Island Council and the University of La Laguna (ULL) have agreed to strengthen their cultural collaboration with a subsidy of 86,000 euros.

The University of La Laguna and the Tenerife Island Council reaffirmed their commitment to cultural collaboration this week. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Culture and University Extension, Isabel León; the Vice-President of the Tenerife Island Council, Lope Afonso; the Insular Councilor for Culture, José Carlos Acha; the Insular Director of Culture, Conrado Álvarez; and several directors of cultural groups from the academic institution.
The island corporation is allocating 86,000 euros to the ULL through a specific subsidy. The main objective is to support the scenic and musical programming of the Paraninfo and to promote cultural projects designed by the chairs, cultural spaces, faculties, and teaching staff of the academic institution, as explained by Vice-President Lope Afonso.
The Insular Councilor for Culture, José Carlos Acha, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in bringing culture closer to the university community and all citizens of Tenerife. "The University of La Laguna is one of the great cultural engines of Tenerife, and this support from the council helps it continue generating and disseminating knowledge, thought, and cultural creation," he stated.
Of the total subsidy, 12,000 euros are allocated to the scenic and musical arts programming of the Paraninfo. The remaining 74,000 euros will be used for the execution of projects of cultural interest. These projects aim to promote and enhance the historical and critical knowledge of creative and research activities in areas such as literature, visual arts, performing and musical arts, cultural theory, and thought among the university community and the island's citizens.
