The organization of school holidays for the island's youth now has a new public option. The Youth Department of the Tenerife Island Council has officially opened the application period for the 'Verano Joven 2026' program. This initiative offers 100% subsidized summer camps in a natural environment, eliminating any financial cost for the beneficiary families.
Activities will take place at the Campamento de la Esperanza facilities in El Rosario. The sessions will be for eight days and seven nights. As a main novelty for this 2026 edition, the minimum age for access has been lowered, allowing children aged 10 and 11 to participate for the first time.
The 90 available spots have been distributed into three age groups: 10 to 11 years old (born in 2015 or 2016), from July 6 to 13; 12 to 13 years old (born in 2013 or 2014), from July 14 to 21; and 14 to 15 years old (born in 2011 or 2012), from July 22 to 29.
The budget allocated for the activity amounts to 95,000 euros, a sum that covers transportation, accommodation, full board, qualified monitor staff, and accident insurance.
Due to the limited number of spots, allocation will be made through a public lottery. Requirements to participate include being registered in any municipality of Tenerife, being born between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2016, and proving the need for a spot due to work reasons, unemployment of both parents, caring for dependents, or situations of gender-based violence. The deadline for submitting online applications is June 3, 2026.
