CB Canarias, burdened by seven straight defeats, visits Coviran Granada needing a victory to secure their playoff spot in the league.

CB Canarias faces a crucial match in their visit to Coviran Granada. Despite showing good moments in their recent games against Barça and Joventut, the team from La Laguna has accumulated a streak of seven consecutive losses, the worst in a decade, five of them in the Liga Endesa. This run has pushed the aurinegro squad away from the top positions and has not yet guaranteed their presence in the playoffs.
Qualification for the playoffs would be secured today if Canarias wins in Granada and Unicaja loses their game against Breogán. However, the team needs to translate its good performances into victories to avoid a do-or-die situation on the final day and to strengthen its confidence for the title series.
The absence of Marcelino Huertas, due to a muscle tear, is a significant blow. The club has signed Icelandic point guard Elvar Fridriksson to mitigate this loss. The team might also reconfigure its play with up to three guards simultaneously, as hinted by coach Txus Vidorreta, with Wes Van Beck performing notably at the small forward position.
With the probable absence of Aaron Doornekamp, the rotation will be completed by players such as Bordón or Sangare. The key for CB Canarias will be to recover its defensive solvency, which previously allowed them to concede just over 72 points, compared to the 95 points conceded in their last eight league games.
The opponent, Coviran Granada, already relegated, has shown a competitive spirit in recent matches, securing five of their six recent victories at home. Among their ranks is former Canarias player, point guard Lluís Costa.
Granada's main threat is Luka Bozic, the Croatian power forward who leads the competition in valuation with 23.9 credits, numbers not seen since Marc Gasol in the 08/09 season. Héctor Alderete described the match as "complicated" and highlighted the importance of "stopping their best player, Bozic," as one of the keys.
