The Presidency Department of the Government of the Canary Islands is holding its first exclusive selection tests this Sunday, November 8, for individuals with intellectual disabilities seeking subordinate staff positions, with 383 candidates vying for 20 openings.

The initiative, part of the regional executive's commitment to equal opportunities, is aimed at individuals with mild, moderate, or borderline intellectual disabilities who officially have a disability degree of 33% or higher.
Minister Nieves Lady Barreto highlighted that this call represents a decisive step towards “a more inclusive, accessible administration committed to real equal opportunities, where the capabilities of all people are represented”.
The selection process, organized by the General Directorate of Public Function, will take place simultaneously in both Canary provinces at 10:00 AM. In Tenerife, the tests will be held at the IES Chapatal, with 180 candidates, while in Gran Canaria, they will take place at the IES Profesor Juan Pulido Castro, with 203 candidates.
The 20 positions offered are an accumulation from the Public Employment Offers of 2023, 2024, and 2025, with 9, 7, and 4 positions respectively.
The selection procedure will consist of a single opposition phase with an exam divided into two mandatory and eliminatory parts, to be completed within a maximum of 120 minutes. The first part will be a 25-question multiple-choice test adapted for easy reading, and the second, a 20-question test based on a practical scenario related to the duties of subordinate staff.
To aid candidates' preparation, the General Directorate of Public Function has made a Study Support Guide and a Study Support Questions document available on its website.
