The decision is based on information from the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, applying the Special Plan for Civil Protection and Emergency Response for Forest Fires (INFOCA). The alert affects Gran Canaria above 400 meters altitude, as well as Tenerife, El Hierro, and La Palma. La Gomera remains on pre-alert.
A period of high temperatures associated with a warm air mass of African origin is expected. In Gran Canaria, maximum temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius are anticipated, potentially reaching 38 degrees locally, especially in mid-altitude and low-lying areas of the southern and southeastern slopes. In Tenerife, maximums will be 35 degrees, with local peaks of 36 degrees in mid-altitude and low-lying areas of the south and southwest.
In La Gomera, temperatures are expected to reach 34 degrees, locally 36, and in El Hierro, 34 degrees with peaks of 35. In La Palma, maximums will be around 30 degrees, potentially reaching 32 and occasionally 34 degrees in the western and northwestern mid-altitudes.
A temperature decrease is forecast for Friday, although high temperatures will persist in Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The meteorological configuration will favor a warm and dry air mass over mid-altitude and forest areas, with relative humidity below 30% and moderate easterly winds. The inversion layer will be situated between 200 and 300 meters.
Meteorological analyses indicate a progressive increase in wildfire risk, particularly between Thursday and Friday. The situation will be continuously monitored, and the territorial scope of the INFOCA alert may be updated based on the evolution of weather predictions.
