The G3A Federation, in collaboration with ACAT Tenerife, organized this demonstration which, although it did not reach the expected 500 motorhomes, managed to gather 423 vehicles. The event is considered one of the most significant and successful mobilizations of the collective in the Canary Islands, highlighting the need to express their criticisms and demands in a unified manner.
The main protest took place on Saturday, with a convoy route passing through various towns such as Granadilla, Los Abades (Arico), Candelaria (Rambla de Los Menceyes), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, returning along the same itinerary. Regrouping points were established to ensure the safety and visibility of the march. Previously, on Friday, a concentration was held at the El Gomero service station in San Miguel de Abona.
“"This demonstration proves the need they felt to express their criticisms and demands, always from unity and without individual protagonism."
Participants, who coordinated the mobilization with authorities, documented the success of the call with numerous videos. The central objective was to strengthen the collective's voice and emphasize their demands. Among the main complaints, expressed with banners and constant honking, is the growing scarcity of parking spaces and suitable areas for these types of vehicles, including places for wastewater disposal.
They also denounce restrictions imposed by local councils, which limit parking to dimensions that prevent the parking of motorhomes and large vans. The collective complains of increasing “persecution” and repeated evictions, such as a recent one in the municipality of Candelaria. Therefore, they demand an end to this situation, arguing that, far from being a problem, they represent an economic opportunity for the localities that host them, as they boost consumption and respect the environment.
