Maritime Rescue successfully carried out the rescue of a cayuco carrying over a hundred people this Sunday morning, approximately two miles off the coast of Las Galletas, on the island of Tenerife.

The operation commenced around 10:25 AM when the vessel Bentayga reported sighting an irregular boat in the area. The ship remained on site until specialized maritime resources arrived.
Shortly after, the vessel Mar Canario confirmed that it had passed by the cayuco and that there were more than a hundred people on board. Following this information, the Maritime Rescue Center in Tenerife promptly mobilized the rescue boats Alpheratz and Menkalinan, and as a precautionary measure, the vessel Heroínas de Salvora.
The rescue boat Alpheratz located the cayuco at 11:00 AM, finding it stationary. Assistance was required to restart the vessel so it could be escorted to the Port of Los Cristianos, where they finally arrived at 12:15 PM.
