After experiencing two frustrating promotion playoffs to Primera División in 2017 and 2022, and a relegation to Primera Federación in 2025, the captain of CD Tenerife has finally achieved a category promotion with the team to which he has dedicated thirteen seasons of his career.
Uncertainty about his future dissipated on Sunday, June 15, when the Tenerife club announced the player's continuity on its website. The decision not to retire after the May 2025 relegation was crucial for the footballer, who was approaching 41 years old and did not want to leave football with a “sense of failure.”

The player was a fundamental part of the squads that came close to promotion to Primera División on two occasions. The first, in 2017, under the management of José Luis Martí, where CD Tenerife lost the promotion final to Getafe. The second opportunity came in 2022, with Luis Miguel Ramis at the helm, but the team again fell in the playoff, this time to Girona. These disappointments preceded the relegation to Primera RFEF two years later.
This recent return to Segunda División, with a prominent role for the captain, has brought him well-deserved sporting peace. Now, the recurring question each year is whether he will continue for another season at the club.
