The Canaria UD Las Palmas Foundation has celebrated the inaugural 'AlGolpito' Walking Football Tournament, bringing together senior participants from Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote for a day of sports and camaraderie.

The event gathered participants from Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, who enjoyed a morning dedicated to sports, social interaction, and active aging in a safe, inclusive environment adapted to their needs.
The tournament's primary objective is to encourage healthy physical activity among older adults, foster socialization among participants from different municipalities, and reinforce sports values such as respect, companionship, and fair play.
For the competition, several 'Fútbol Caminando' (Walking Football) fields were set up. This adapted modality allows for safe enjoyment of football by eliminating running and physical contact, thereby encouraging participation from everyone.
Following the group stages and knockout rounds, the day concluded with an awards ceremony and a final gathering with the Fundación UD Las Palmas AlGolpito team, marked by a positive atmosphere and camaraderie.
In addition to the sports activities, attendees were provided with refreshments, medical resources, and spaces for meeting and interaction throughout the morning.
With this first edition, the Fundación Canaria UD Las Palmas continues to solidify the AlGolpito project as a tool for promoting healthy lifestyle habits, social participation, and the well-being of older adults through sports. The project is supported and funded by the Government of the Canary Islands.
