The failure, detected approximately four months ago, remains active despite the end of the winter rainy season. Initially, users of this trail in the Las Mercedes forest attributed the flow to rainfall, but the persistence of the leak has confirmed it is a break in the hydraulic infrastructure that has not been addressed.
The hikers have documented the situation through video footage, showing water constantly flowing down the hillside. Given this, they have expressed their concern over the waste of a vital water resource for the island of Tenerife.

The Anaga massif, known for its high ecological value and laurel forests, falls under the hydraulic management of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife. Consequently, the hikers have requested that the island corporation conduct a technical inspection and carry out the necessary repairs urgently to stop the water loss in this natural area.
