The aircraft's commander decided to return to Tenerife Sur airport following a large-scale fight involving around ten passengers that endangered the safety of the 186 people on board. The incident occurred when the plane, which had departed for Liverpool, had been in the air for only 30 minutes.
The crew requested police intervention, and officers were waiting on the ground. According to air traffic controllers, the commander deemed that continuing the journey could compromise flight safety, leading to an immediate return to the island.
Air traffic control prioritized the aircraft's return and coordinated with the airport for the presence of officers. The plane landed without incident and, after the situation was controlled, resumed its route to Liverpool. The airline easyJet confirmed the incident, stating they do not tolerate disruptive behavior and that safety is their top priority.
The altercation necessitated a change in operations, the activation of police, and delayed the 186 travelers, turning a routine flight into an aerial emergency.
