The white-and-blue squad failed to earn points in a hard-fought match against Real Sporting de Gijón, who proved effective in securing the victory from the island's venue. The match concluded with a 0-1 scoreline.
The game began with clear attacking dominance from CD Tenerife, monopolizing offensive actions. In the 8th minute, Juanjo Sánchez tried his luck with a long-range shot that was saved by Yáñez. Shortly after, in the 13th minute, Víctor Moreno also attempted a shot after an individual play, but the Asturian goalkeeper thwarted the danger again.
Despite the home team's dominance, Real Sporting managed to score on one of their first approaches, thanks to a goal from Rosas. However, the goal was disallowed for a previous handball in attack in the 45th minute. The match went into halftime with the initial draw (0-0).
In the second half, CD Tenerife attempted to maintain control of the game, while Real Sporting sought to capitalize on their counter-attacking opportunities. It was in the 68th minute that visiting player Sarco put the Asturian team ahead with a transitional play (0-1).
After the visiting goal, CD Tenerife tried to get closer to the goal defended by Yáñez, with the introduction of players such as De Miguel, Dani Fdez., and Noel López. Despite their efforts, the scoreline did not change further, and the white-and-blues suffered their first setback of the season in LALIGA HYPERMOTION (0-1).
The team managed by Álvaro Cervera is already looking ahead to their next league commitment, which will be away next Saturday, September 5th, against Real Sociedad B at 13:00 Canary time.
