Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria has identified American center Luke Fischer as a target for its 2026-2027 Primera FEB project, aiming to return to the Liga Endesa.

The 'claretiano' entity seeks to integrate players into its roster who can elevate the competitive level and aspire to return the club to the top tier of Spanish basketball after losing its place following 31 consecutive seasons. While the arrivals of Francesc Solana for sporting direction and Bruno Savignani to the bench are expected to be formalized this week, the club is also working on retaining key players such as Carlos Alocén, Miquel Salvó, Pierre Pelos, and Nicolás Brussino.
In this context, Luke Fischer, a center who has played for Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos for the last three seasons, is emerging as a significant reinforcement for the 'yellow' team's interior game. The American player, whose contract ends this summer, is awaiting a decision on his continuity with the Burgos club, which will compete in the upcoming BKT EuroCup.
This participation in European competitions motivates the player to extend his stay in Burgos. However, should he not continue, Fischer would view the proposal from the team that first brought him to the Liga ACB favorably. The center, holding Armenian citizenship, is 31 years old and stands 2.11 meters tall. In the past 2025-2026 Liga Endesa season, he averaged 7.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.2 in valuation over 16 minutes per game in 30 matches.
Fischer played under the new 'claretiano' coach, Bruno Savignani, at the Burgos team during their last two seasons. The first was marked by promotion to the Liga ACB with an impressive record of 32 wins and 2 losses. In the second, Savignani was dismissed after a difficult start to the season, with the team ultimately securing survival in the elite league.
The center, who played college basketball at Marquette University, debuted in the Liga Endesa with Gran Canaria in the 2017-2018 season, the year the team qualified for the Euroliga for the first time in its history. He later was part of the squad for the 2018-2019 season, which also featured participation in the top continental club competition.
After his time with Gran Canaria, the center from Wisconsin played in German and French leagues before returning to Spain in January 2023 to join Real Betis Baloncesto. Now, Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria awaits developments to add experience and height with Fischer, aiming to assemble the most competitive roster possible for promotion.
