Pope Leo XIV will visit the island of Tenerife on June 12 for a meeting focused on the migratory reality of the Archipelago, to be held at Plaza del Cristo in La Laguna.

The organizational framework for the upcoming papal visit to Tenerife has defined its key parameters. The digital platform has now officially activated online registration for citizens wishing to participate in the encounter that Pope Leo XIV will have with the Archipelago's migrant communities. The institutional event is scheduled for June 12 at 10:10 AM in the Plaza del Cristo, La Laguna.
Strict security and infrastructure guidelines will be enforced at the venue. Due to space limitations, attendees must remain standing throughout the event, and access to the plaza will only be permitted between 7:00 AM and 9:10 AM. The logistical protocol explicitly prohibits the entry of chairs or strollers to ensure mobility. The IT system will automatically block registration requests from individuals already registered for the subsequent Eucharist in the Tenerife capital.
The official program states that after inspecting the Emergency Humanitarian Reception Device of Las Raíces, the Holy Father will preside over a 40-minute event in the Plaza del Cristo. The primary objective is to highlight the migratory reality of the Islands through direct testimonies from individuals from America and the African continent, accompanied by volunteers and technical reception staff.
Suso González Concepción, delegate for Migrations of the Diocese, specified that the event will showcase the work of entities in the sector, with the expectation that the Pope's intervention will promote deep reflection on the challenge of migration in society.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Tenerife, Eloy Santiago, has outlined the pontiff's detailed route to allow for greetings from the faithful. The logistical planning presents a duality in the use of official vehicles depending on the municipality. Upon concluding the event at Plaza del Cristo, Pope Leo XIV will travel through La Laguna in an adapted electric vehicle, similar to a golf cart. This route will begin along Calle Viana, an area specifically reserved for the elderly, vulnerable groups, and users of Church-affiliated centers, including residents from the Hermanitas de los Ancianos Desamparados (Hogar del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna), the Cruz Blanca Foundation, and the Acamán complex of the Hermanas Hospitalarias.
The urban route will then continue along Calle San Agustín to the headquarters of the Bishopric of Tenerife, designated for a brief institutional rest. Once the La Laguna segment is finished, the Pope will transfer by a closed vehicle to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The transition to the official mass procession format will occur at Avenida de La Salle, where the pontiff will board the popemobile. The capital's itinerary will proceed through Plaza Weyler and Calle Méndez Núñez, before descending via Calle El Pilar. Finally, the vehicle will head towards Plaza de España and Avenida Marítima to enter the Port Esplanade, the venue for the large-scale Eucharist.
