The beginning of the summer season invites us to enjoy outdoor moments, and what better way than with a glass of Canarian wine. This selection focuses on five options designed to enhance the experience of long after-dinner conversations and summer celebrations.
As a bubbly option to start any aperitif or meal, the Pet Nat Rosado 2023 from Bodegas Viñátigo is recommended. This lightly colored sparkling wine offers aromas of pepper, red fruits, and a mineral character, with an approximate price of €18.90.
To whet the appetite, the dry white wine Althay Viticultores 2024 from Lanzarote pays homage to the island's rich diversity, blending indigenous varieties like Malvasía Volcánica, Listán Blanco, and Diego. It stands out with its bright yellow color, aromas of white fruit and floral notes, and a smooth, mineral palate. Its price is around €22.60.
Continuing with offerings from Lanzarote, La Verea Tabaiba Blanco 2024, from a small-scale producer, uses volcanic Malvasía and Listán Blanco grapes. It presents a pale yellow color with fresh aromas of grapefruit and citrus, and a smooth, saline taste on the palate, costing approximately €37.90.
From Suertes del Marqués, the red wine Cool 2022, created in collaboration with Dirk Niepoort, emphasizes minimal winery intervention. It is a juicy wine, easy to drink, with intense red fruit aromas, earthy notes, and spices, available for about €13.75.
Finally, Vandama La Finca 2023, made with Listán Negro and Negramoll grapes and advised by winemaker Carmelo Peña, offers a clean and direct red wine. Its aromas of fresh berries and hints of Chinese ink are complemented by subtle tannins and an elegant finish, priced around €20.50.
These five wines represent different ways to celebrate the season, bringing freshness and personality. Beyond technical characteristics, the true value lies in sharing and enjoying each sip, remembering that summer has arrived.
