The sporting project of CD Tenerife for the upcoming 26/27 season is surrounded by uncertainties. The club's strategy has shifted from the previous year, adopting a more cautious approach to player acquisitions. In this context, Uruguayan striker Gastón Valles, who arrived in the winter market from Unionistas CF, is emerging as a potential departure.
Despite his performance last season not being enough to secure his continuity, neither the player nor the club has activated the unilateral contract termination clauses, which are valid until 2028. Both parties seem to be playing their cards, with the conviction that Valles will not continue on the island, but also exploring the possibility of a transfer.
Sources from Valles's representation agency indicate that the player will report for the start of preseason on July 8th. However, CD Tenerife, aware of several clubs' interest in the striker, might be seeking a deal that recovers the investment made in January and, in turn, frees up salary cap space for building a reliable squad for the future.
Gastón Valles's statistics in Primera RFEF, both with Unionistas CF and CD Tenerife, make him an attractive prospect for teams newly relegated to the third tier or those aiming for promotion. Six clubs, according to agency sources, have already shown interest or inquired about the player's agent, Marcelo Tejera.
Regarding the team's forward line, Enric Gallego's continuity is guaranteed. A loan move is expected for Ulloa, heading to Lugo, and Jesús de Miguel, tempted by Zaragoza, does not seem to be part of the project, effectively being marked as dispensable.
