The eve of June 24th will be intensely celebrated in Gran Canaria, with festivities spanning from San Bartolomé de Tirajana to Arucas. Municipalities have organized a diverse cultural agenda to welcome summer, filling beaches, squares, and neighborhoods with festive proposals.
In San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the celebration kicks off at Playa del Inglés' Anexo II from 8:00 PM, featuring batucada, live music, and an aerial show, culminating in midnight fireworks. The Castillo del Romeral Cultural Center will host puppet shows and traditional games from 6:00 PM, followed by a barbecue and folk music. Another option is the Nomad Market Terrace at Holiday World Maspalomas, with free entry and activities starting at 9:30 PM.
Telde will celebrate the night in various locations, including Melenara Beach. San Juan Square will host music with DJ Abián Reyes and MRS Troupe, while the main San Juan Bonfire will be lit at Siete Puentes. The 19th edition of Los Mechones de Melenara will take place on the beach, with performances by Orquesta Furia Joven and Grupo Acuarela.
Mogán will focus its festivities on Mogán Beach, featuring a popular pineapple barbecue, a show by the Mogán Artistic Schools, the lighting of the San Juan Bonfire, a pyrotechnic display, and a grand festival with Grupo Arena and DJ Cholo.
The capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, will center its events around the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium and the Plaza de la Música. Following the Honors and Distinctions ceremony, Álvaro de Luna will perform at Plaza de la Música, followed by fireworks in Los Muellitos and a festival with Tataband. Los Gofiones have also announced a special performance.
Gáldar will celebrate the night at Sardina Beach, with a street parade, the inauguration of Avenida Alcalde Antonio Rosas, the raising of the Blue Flag, and in the evening, a parade, a DJ set by Línea DJ, and aerial and aquatic fireworks.
In Arucas, the San Juan Festivals will extend to Parque de las Flores with an Artisan Fair. On Tuesday the 23rd, there will be concerts by Los Salvapantallas and, originally scheduled, Miguel Ríos, along with fireworks from Arucas Mountain and performances by Los 40 Classic and Da Igual. On Wednesday the 24th, Kike Pérez will present a comedy show.
Valsequillo, in Tenteniguada, will feature bell ringing, a caracoleda (snail tasting), and authorized San Juan bonfire burning. The night will include Batukada Paixao, the XXIX Night of Witches, pyrotechnics, and performances by DJ Promaster and Leyenda Joven. On Wednesday the 24th, there will be a Livestock Fair and a popular lunch.
Santa Lucía de Tirajana will celebrate in Pozo Izquierdo with tributes to La Oreja de Van Gogh and Maná, along with aquatic fireworks and DJ sets.
The Agaete Valley will hold its events in Plaza de San Pedro and Antonio Eusebio El Sabillo Park, featuring a street parade, the traditional burning of the San Juan Bonfire, pineapple barbecue, and sangria.
Artenara will celebrate its San Juan Festivals in Plaza de San Matías with a bonfire and roasted pineapples and potatoes.
It is reminded that bonfires directly on the sand are prohibited on most beaches for safety and environmental reasons. Municipalities designate specific areas, and permits are required for bonfires on private land.
