Born in Tenerife and with a career marked by perseverance, Kirian Rodríguez has built his football journey from his beginnings at the Candelaria Municipal Football School to becoming captain of UD Las Palmas. His path has not only been athletic but also one of personal triumph, facing challenges such as illness and demonstrating remarkable resilience.
“"During my first year at CD Tenerife, I told my parents I wasn't going to continue, and from that support network they've always been for me, they just told me to quit when I fulfilled my commitment to the club. Only then could I leave because agreements are meant to be kept."
Despite the difficulties, Kirian has always maintained a deep connection with his roots and the culture of the Canary Islands. Now, he shares with readers a gastronomic route that reflects his tastes, from traditional Canarian cuisine to more exotic options, always with a natural orange juice as an indispensable accompaniment.
In Gran Canaria, his breakfasts include churros with chocolate from the gas station cafeteria in Hoya del Parrado and the truffle chicken sandwich from Café Regina in Triana. For lunch and dinner, he recommends La Travesía de Triana for its seafood salad and lamb sirloin, La Bodega de la Avenida for its tacos and custard dessert, and Casa Brito in Visvique. In the north, he highlights La Marisma for shrimp bags and limpets, while in La Garita, La Rueda is his choice for a good 'bochinche'. Heading south, El Senador is his favorite for the 'japo taco' and rice, and for burgers, Malditas Smash Burger. Finally, in the capital, Rêver is his option for pork knuckle and 'bravas'.
In his native island, Tenerife, Kirian enjoys sandwiches from Pancho's Bar near the ULL Law School and Open Rambla in Candelaria. For lunch and dinner, he mentions El Molino, a chicken rotisserie in 'guachinche' style, Tasca El Trasiego for its foie toast and oxtail rice, and the 'guachinche' La Esperancera in Llano Moro. In the capital of Tenerife, his Japanese food options are Kiki at the Urban Hotel and Tagami.
Although nightlife outings are rare due to his schedule, in Tenerife he enjoys visiting La Barraca to play darts or billiards, and El Ático on the NH Hotel Rooftop in Santa Cruz. In Gran Canaria, his occasional choices include El Monasterio in La Aldea, Origen in Plaza de las Ranas, and Alboroto. Additionally, he confesses his fondness for Clipper de Fresa, Munchitos, and Canarian cheeses.
