The Pinolere Ethnographic Museum and Park will host this event, emphasizing carpentry trades and the cultural heritage of the Canary Islands. The fair aims to showcase how artisans have transformed wood into essential items for Canarian life over generations.
Pinolere continues to be a key meeting point for craftsmanship in the Archipelago, bringing together artisans, exhibitions, workshops, music, and popular culture activities. This year features a Regional Canary Islands Wood Crafts Exhibition to honor the material's historical significance in daily Canarian life.
The official opening is scheduled for Friday, September 4, at 12:00 PM, with local, island, and regional authorities in attendance. Awards will be presented, including the 'Cho Feriante de Honor 2026' to Manuel Domínguez González, Vice President of the Canary Islands Government; the Liceo de Taoro for the institutional category; and Transportes Paluper for the business category. The XXIII Craftsmanship and Heritage Award “Villa de La Orotava” will be given to the Asociación Celebración San José and its Band of Carpenters and Family Members.
The opening day will also feature exhibitions such as 'Wood in the Heritage of the Canary Islands' and the 'Canarian Handcrafted Furniture Exhibition'. Additionally, 'The Shape of the Invisible,' an artistic proposal by Isabel González Hernández, and a photographic exhibition on traditions from Icod de los Vinos will be presented.
Hands-on workshops will be a significant part of the fair, including sessions on making cheese and meat boards led by master woodturner José Luis Santos. These workshops have limited places and require prior registration.
Saturday, September 5, will be dedicated to the carpenters of Tenerife. The day includes the presentation of the book 'Celebración de San José. Memoria de 40 años' and a tribute to several carpentry artisans from the island. Musical performances will feature the Band of Carpenters and Family Members, followed by a folkloric exchange between Parranda Chaboco and Ibiza's Asociación Cultural Colla Sa Bodega.
The closing Sunday will focus on the traditions of Icod de los Vinos, including a tribute to the Fiesta de Las Tablas and a commented wine tasting from Viña Engracia winery. The official closing ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
