The La Laguna City Council, through its Municipal Services department, has completed a significant upgrade at Estudiante Fernández Quesada Park, formerly known as Los Dragos Park, aiming to enrich its biodiversity and provide a more pleasant space for citizens.

The intervention focused on optimizing the soil in three distinct areas of the park. Tilling work was carried out, and organic matter was incorporated, which are crucial steps to improve soil structure and ensure the optimal development of newly planted vegetation.

"There is a clear commitment to continue improving the green areas of the municipality, creating pleasant, well-maintained environments designed for the enjoyment of residents."

As part of this revitalization, 130 specimens of native Canary Island flora have been introduced. Among the endemic species planted are jocama, mocán, matorrisco, guaydil, malvarrisco, and siemprevivas, which reinforce the municipality's botanical identity and contribute to the sustainability of the local ecosystem.
A spokesperson for the Municipal Services department recalled that La Laguna is the only municipality in the Canary Islands recognized as a Tree City of the World by the Arbor Day Foundation and the United Nations Organization (UN). This distinction underscores the town's commitment to the conservation and promotion of its green spaces.
These actions are part of an ongoing strategy by the Municipal Services department to progressively improve the parks and gardens of the municipality, creating more accessible, attractive, and environmentally friendly spaces for both residents and visitors to La Laguna.
