The La Laguna City Council is in the final stages of preparation for the third edition of the Anti-LGBTI+ Phobia Solidarity March. This participatory event, scheduled for June 21, is part of the 'La Laguna Orgullosa 2026' activities. The initiative, jointly organized by the Autonomous Sports Body (OAD) and the Council's Equality and LGBTI Department, primarily aims to highlight respect for diversity, inclusion, and coexistence within the municipality.
The march will begin at 11:00 AM from Obispo Rey Redondo street, next to the City Hall. Covering a distance of 820 meters, the start and finish points will be in the historic center of the city. Registration, costing eight euros, will remain open until June 20 or until all available spots are filled. All proceeds will be donated to the TLP Impulso Association.
This march is not conceived as a sports competition but as an activity open to all citizens. Its purpose is to bring together people of different ages and groups under a common message against discrimination. The short route is designed to facilitate the participation of residents, families, and social collectives.
“"This continuity demonstrates that it is a consolidated initiative with the capacity to continue growing."
The president of the OAD, Badel Albelo, has positively assessed the march reaching its third edition, highlighting its consolidation and growth potential. He emphasized how the activity fosters citizen involvement around values such as equality, respect, and diversity. For his part, the Councilor for Equality and LGBTI, Dailos González, stressed the importance of this event, noting that each edition represents progress in participation and in the strength of the message against discrimination.
“"Each new call represents progress, both in terms of increased participation and the strength of the message we want to convey to society."
González underscored the need to continue working to eradicate LGTBI+ phobia and build more inclusive and safe spaces. With this third edition, La Laguna reinforces its commitment to public awareness and the promotion of respect for diversity, combining the symbolic aspect of the march with a charitable cause.
