The exhibition «La mar de plástico», produced for the Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) and the Cabildo de Tenerife, has been awarded the Delta Award in the Culture category. This award, one of the most prestigious in the field of design in Spain, was presented at the latest edition of the Delta Awards, organized by ADI-FAD in collaboration with the DHub Design Museum of Barcelona.
The exhibition, conceived by Héctor Serrano, Carmen Baselga, and Samuel Cabrera, along with SoGood Stuff, was on display at the MUNA from June 15, 2023, to January 14, 2024. Its proposal addressed the impact of plastic waste on oceans, aiming to create a sensory and emotional visitor experience.
The project stood out for its use of design as a tool for environmental awareness. It incorporated a sound installation that combined beach sounds with real testimonies from fishermen, marine photographers, and biologists, generating an experience designed to bring visitors closer to the issue of marine pollution.
Furthermore, «La mar de plástico» explored the possibilities of waste reuse through art pieces and objects made from discarded plastic, focusing on the circular economy and the need to move towards new production and consumption models.
The Delta Award for Culture recognizes projects that use design to promote culture, generate social debate, and foster new perspectives on materials and their relationship with our environment. In this context, the recognition of «La mar de plástico» highlights a proposal that linked design, scientific dissemination, and environmental awareness from a museum perspective.
The project is part of the Delta Culture Selection of the Delta Awards 2026, thus consolidating the recognition for an exhibition that turned the MUNA space into a place for reflection on one of the most significant environmental challenges of our time.
