La Rosa street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a key artery in the El Toscal neighborhood, is in the final phase of its transformation, with works expected to conclude between late June and early July, after nearly three years of construction and a significant initial delay.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced that the completion of works on La Rosa street is scheduled for summer, although the exact date will depend on the availability of the asphalt company. This intervention, which began on July 17, 2023, aims to revitalize the El Toscal neighborhood and make this street a landmark in the capital's old town.

"It's already half bloomed."

The technical complexity of the project has been a determining factor, with the discovery of unregistered underground infrastructures that forced modifications to the original plan. These unforeseen issues, especially at the intersections with streets such as San Antonio, San Martín, and San Vicente Ferrer, have led to an increase in the initial budget.
The total cost of the renovation has risen to nearly six million euros, exceeding the initially planned 4.3 million, with a contribution of 1.7 million from European funds. This cost overrun and the extension of the execution period, which has lasted almost three years, have been a subject of public debate.
The final design of La Rosa prioritizes pedestrians, featuring wider sidewalks, the elimination of architectural barriers, and a comprehensive improvement of basic services, including the undergrounding of waste containers and the renovation of sanitation and telecommunications networks. The goal is to modernize the infrastructure without losing the historical essence of the area.
The City Council emphasizes that the public investment is already generating a positive impact on the neighborhood's economic fabric, attracting new private initiatives and reactivating commercial activity. This transformation is expected to serve as a starting point for a broader regeneration of El Toscal, consolidating La Rosa as a space for coexistence and economic activity.
