The municipality of La Victoria de Acentejo has had a new public space on its main road since Thursday: the old Plaza de La Pólvora, now renovated, and a modern facility for the taxi service. This initiative, driven by the City Council and the Cabildo of Tenerife, is part of a broader plan to improve the image, accessibility, and mobility of the main urban axis.
The project, which involved an investment of approximately 400,000 euros jointly financed by both administrations, was developed on a plot previously acquired by the Council. The new space combines a square for resident use with a specific building for taxi professionals, aiming to optimize working conditions and user comfort.
This intervention seeks to reorganize one of the busiest points in the municipality, strengthening services on the main road and providing a resting area for residents. The urban renewal on the TF-217, the road that crosses the town center and concentrates commercial and administrative activity, has previously included actions such as the remodeling of the Plaza Antigua and the construction of a new roundabout.
The City Council plans to continue with similar investments in the coming months, including the expansion of sidewalks and the construction of new elevated pedestrian crossings to improve pedestrian mobility and road safety. These improvements also respond to a long-standing demand from the taxi sector, which now has its own facilities adapted to its needs.

Mayor Juan Antonio García highlighted that these new spaces are another step in the strategy to renew the main urban axis, aiming to consolidate improvements in accessibility, road safety, and public space.
