The Las Palmitas Neighborhood Association has achieved first place in the Natural Flower Crosses Contest in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, marking a triumphant return to the event after several years of absence.

The municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been filled with color during the celebration of the May Festivities, where hundreds of crosses have adorned its streets. On the central day of May 3, various contests were decided, promoting the revitalization of areas and collaborative work among residents.
In the Natural Flower Crosses category, the Las Palmitas Neighborhood Association took home the top prize. They were followed by Arcipreste in second place, then the Tamaragua Cultural Center, the San Gerardo Neighborhood Association, and the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife. Meanwhile, the School Crosses with Recycled Materials Contest awarded first prizes to Ágora, Hermano Pedro, and Chamberí schools.
The victory of Las Palmitas is particularly significant, as it represents their first participation in the contest after a long hiatus. The initiative to revive this tradition came from two local residents and a florist, who sought the association's support to raise funds and bring back this custom that fosters community unity.

Despite working against the clock, the community managed to gather the necessary funds to cover the expenses for a cross approximately five meters tall. The neighborhood association also contributed financially, demonstrating collective commitment to the project. Following this victory, the Las Palmitas neighborhood has already confirmed its intention to participate again in the 2027 edition, allocating a budget for it.
