Automaker Leapmotor expands its electrified vehicle lineup with the B10 REEV Hybrid, a variant of its C-segment SUV. This extended-range plug-in hybrid model is designed to meet the needs of drivers undertaking long journeys or weekend getaways, seeking a balance between electric mobility and the practicality of an internal combustion engine.
This vehicle integrates a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine that acts as an electricity generator for the rear electric motor. The combustion engine automatically activates when the battery charge drops below 25%, ensuring the vehicle is always propelled by its electric motor and eliminating range anxiety. The system is engineered to provide a driving experience similar to that of a purely electric vehicle.
The Leapmotor B10 REEV Hybrid is equipped with an 18.8 kWh battery offering up to 86 km of electric range. Complemented by a 50 kW generator and a 50-liter fuel tank, the vehicle achieves a combined range of up to 900 km. The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.
The model features four adaptive driving modes: EV, which prioritizes electric use down to 25% battery; Fuel, which uses the generator to maintain charge on long trips; EV+, which activates the generator only below 15% battery to extend electric range; and Power+, designed for maximum performance and acceleration by keeping the generator active.
Inside, the Leapmotor B10 REEV Hybrid presents a modern digital environment powered by LEAP OS 4.0 Plus and a Qualcomm 8155 chipset. It features a 14.6-inch central display with 2.5K HD resolution, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a premium 12-speaker audio system. Over-the-air updates enhance comfort, connectivity, and safety systems, including advanced driving assistance features.
The high-strength body structure, seven airbags, and 17 advanced driver-assistance functions enhance safety. The vehicle is offered in two versions, Life Hybrid EV and Design Hybrid EV, with six color options and three interior themes, aiming for a spacious and refined cabin, featuring heated and ventilated eco-leather front seats.
