A 27-year-old man, with a history of domestic violence offenses, has been arrested on the island of Tenerife by the National Police. He is accused of being the alleged perpetrator of crimes of child corruption, child pornography, and sexual assault against a 15-year-old minor, whom he contacted and manipulated through social media.
The investigation began last May in Cádiz, following a report filed by the victim's mother. The mother alerted officers that her daughter had met an adult man on a social network. This individual, after gradually gaining the minor's trust, managed to get her to send him numerous photographs and videos of a sexual nature, even threatening to disseminate the material if she did not comply with his demands.
Police inquiries revealed a recurring modus operandi: the detainee would locate minors on social networks, establish contact by adapting conversations to their interests and age, and later attempt to continue communication via instant messaging applications to obtain sexual content. Once acquired, he used threats of dissemination to coerce the victims.
Initial investigations indicated that the alleged perpetrator was in Tenerife, where he was eventually located and arrested by National Police officers from the island. Analysis of his mobile phone revealed a large quantity of images and over 18,000 messages exchanged with the victim within a fifteen-day period, demonstrating a high degree of emotional dependence and control.
According to the National Police, the detainee dictated guidelines to the minor regarding her clothing, social relationships, and social media activity, repeatedly demanding she block many of her friends. Following his arrest, the individual was handed over to judicial authority, which has ordered his provisional imprisonment.
