Medicine and Nursing lead degree demand at ULPGC for the upcoming academic year

The university records over 11,000 pre-registrations, with high interest in new degrees like Psychology.

A total of 11,085 students have applied for undergraduate programs at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) for the next academic year, with health sciences remaining the most sought-after field.

The Medicine degree remains the most requested option, with 1,917 applications for 150 available spots. The student profile is particularly notable, as 59% of applicants come from outside the Canary Islands. Meanwhile, Nursing ranks second in demand, with 1,110 applications distributed across campuses in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura.
The university's academic offering has introduced a new Psychology degree in a non-presential format, which has seen strong interest with 791 applications for 80 spots. Additionally, Veterinary Medicine continues its upward trend with 716 applicants, establishing itself as the fourth most requested program.
Other programs with significant application numbers include Primary Education, Law, Business Administration and Management, and Physical Activity and Sports Sciences. The ULPGC has also noted growing interest in recently implemented degrees such as Biotechnology, Physics and Mathematics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Data Science and Engineering.
The ULPGC has reminded students that provisional data will be available starting July 7th on their official website. Applicants needing to correct errors in their pre-registration process have until July 9th to submit a claim via the official form or the designated email address.
