The event will feature Gloria Godínez Rojo, a Mexican researcher and artist based in Gran Canaria, who will offer a live Mexican music concert. Godínez Rojo, who holds a degree and master's in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a doctorate cum laude from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, explores themes such as desire, migration, gender, and decolonization in her work, integrating worldviews from Mexico and the Canary Islands.
One of her performances is 'Trama de las dos orillas' (Weave of the Two Shores), a 15-minute choreographic action that examines the origin of cochineal dye in pre-Columbian Mexico and its transplantation to the Canary Islands in the 19th century. The performance uses the artist's body, dyed with cochineal, and a wool layer to evoke the insect and its historical and economic significance.
The Venezuelan folk ensemble Yacambú, founded in 2005 and based in the Canary Islands, will also participate. Headquartered in Tenerife, the group keeps Venezuelan cultural heritage alive and will present a repertoire of traditional Mexican dances, adorned in typical Aztec country costumes.
The musical program will be rounded out by DJ Kali (Pili aka DJ Kali), a renowned selector and DJ from Tenerife specializing in world music and alternative sounds, with over 20 years of experience in the Canarian music scene.
Admission to the festival is free until full capacity. Tickets will be available online two days before the event, starting at 10:00 AM.
