After sixteen months of public silence, presenter Paloma Lago has decided to share her most personal experience in an interview with ‘¡HOLA!’ magazine. The communicator, who is undergoing a period of personal reconstruction at 59, addresses a complicated legal process and the recent arrival of her first grandchild, Javi, whom she describes as a "new light" in her life.
Lago states that, once the legal proceedings were resolved, she no longer has "to stay quiet anymore." She explains that for "a year and four months" she refrained from denying information "out of respect for the police investigation and justice," but asserts that "things were said that correspond neither to reality nor to the judicial file." Her decision to speak now stems from a "personal need" to "tell the truth" in the face of "lies" she has heard.
The presenter clarifies that the judicial procedure has not concluded definitively, as there is a subsequent order dated April 8th decreeing "provisional, not final, dismissal," which would allow for a reopening if new evidence emerged. "This is not over. There is only one truth, and judicial truth, too," she insists.
On an emotional level, Lago acknowledges it has been a "very difficult" time, although she feels calm because she "did what she had to do." She has found support in her son Javier, her mother, her faith, her legal services, psychologists, her lawyer, and the UFAM of the National Police.
The arrival of her grandson Javi has been "the engine" of her recovery, and the memory of her father, who recently passed away, accompanies her. "My father is present in me, he is there to help me, to catch me, to hug me," she confesses. Lago summarizes her current life situation: "I am well, thank God. It has been a very complicated process, I have suffered greatly, but now it is time to take the reins of my life again."
