The extraordinary migrant regularization initiative in Spain, which could benefit over 300,000 individuals in the Canary Islands, has prompted the Administration to bolster its resources. For this process, 13 Correos offices have been designated in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, including one each in La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro, in addition to those located on Tenerife. In the province of Las Palmas, 11 branches will operate, with one in Lanzarote and another in Fuerteventura.
Nationally, the number of offices totals 450, with the majority being Correos branches (371). Social Security delegations and immigration offices will also be utilized. Application processing will commence on Monday, April 20, and continue until June 30. Correos offices in the islands will be supported by Social Security facilities, with at least one per province.
Despite the Social Security adding 550 new professionals to handle the increased workload, immigration office staff have called for a strike starting April 20. Their aim is to protest the lack of human resources and warn about the overload that this extraordinary regularization process will entail.
To apply for regularization, interested individuals must obtain a prior appointment online via the website of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration or by calling 060, starting Thursday, April 16. Once the appointment is secured, applicants must submit their application along with the required documentation at the assigned office. The selection of Correos offices was based on anticipated application volumes and the immigration needs of each province, involving approximately 1,000 Correos professionals who have received specific training for this purpose.
