An Arona court has ordered provisional detention for one of three individuals arrested in connection with the violent death of an 88-year-old British tourist in Los Cristianos, Tenerife.

The Investigating Court number 3 of Arona has decreed provisional, communicated, and no-bail detention for the main suspect in the death of an 88-year-old British citizen. The events occurred last Wednesday near a holiday apartment complex in Los Cristianos.
The primary defendant is charged with alleged homicide, combined with a minor assault charge against the victim's partner, and a third charge of attempted violent robbery. The police investigation remains open to fully clarify the incident.

During the violent struggle, the elderly man received a strong blow that caused him to suffer cardiac arrest in the street.

The other two individuals arrested by the National Police in connection with this incident have been released on provisional liberty. The judicial authority is investigating them as alleged accomplices or necessary cooperators in an attempted violent robbery. One of them will be required to report to the court periodically.
The victim, who was in Tenerife celebrating his birthday with his partner, was approached by the assailants with the intent to steal his belongings. Despite the swift intervention of medical personnel and his urgent transfer to a hospital, the octogenarian did not survive the severe injuries and passed away on Sunday night. The National Police investigation is ongoing.
