Las Palmas de Gran Canaria activates an extensive special security, mobility, and cleaning operation this Tuesday for the celebration of San Juan night at Las Canteras beach.

San Juan Night is expected to draw thousands of people to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, prompting the City Council to deploy a comprehensive operation. Coordinated after the Local Security Board, it involves personnel from the Local Police, National Police, Civil Protection, Red Cross, and municipal services to ensure safety and the smooth running of scheduled events.
Potential traffic restrictions are planned for avenues such as Príncipe de Asturias and Industrial José Sánchez Peñate, and streets like Simancas, Pavía, and Numancia. Access to El Rincón from the GC-2 might be closed depending on crowd levels.
Surveillance will be enhanced to prevent bonfires, an activity prohibited in the municipality. Civil Protection, the Municipal Cleaning Service, and the Mediation and Coexistence Unit (UMEC) of the Local Police will remove accumulated materials and monitor areas where fires typically occur.
Security at Las Canteras will include the Local Protection and Support Unit (UPAL) for child assistance and the Operational Intervention and Support Group (GOIA-UE) on the promenade. The Red Cross will have a boat for immediate response to coastal incidents.
The event will feature a Violet and Rainbow Point offering information and support for potential victims of sexist or discriminatory aggression during the celebration. These measures coincide with the city's Honors and Distinctions ceremony, fireworks display, a concert, and a subsequent street party.
The City Council advises citizens to use public transport and follow the instructions of security and emergency services for safe mobility and enjoyment. A special cleaning operation with 76 workers and 23 vehicles will work overnight on June 24th, supplemented by ten ecological waste stations and 46 additional containers.
